Yes. ChatGPT works with AFAS Profit through AFAS AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol). That is the open protocol which safely connects an AI assistant to external systems. You need a paid ChatGPT subscription with Developer Mode. Instead of logging in at AFAS itself, you fill in the details of your AFAS Profit environment once on the connection page of iWebDevelopment, after which you work from the chat.
Connecting AFAS Profit with ChatGPT, step by step

Requires a paid ChatGPT subscription (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education). On Plus and Pro you switch Developer Mode on yourself; with Business and Enterprise an administrator can arrange or limit this. Developer Mode is still in beta.
1Go to Settings → Security and login and switch Developer Mode on. Confirm the message.
2Go to Settings → Plugins (or open chatgpt.com/plugins directly).
3Click the plus button to create a developer-mode app.
4Give the connector a name (for example AFAS AI Connect) and paste the connection link into the server URL field. Choose OAuth as authentication.
5Click Create. You are redirected to the connection page of iWebDevelopment. Fill in the details of your AFAS Profit environment and connect. You only have to do this once.
6Open a new chat, choose Developer mode through the + menu, switch AFAS AI Connect on and ask your first question.

Do I need a paid ChatGPT subscription?
Yes, a paid subscription is needed. Developer Mode is on the paid plans, not on a free account. It is still in beta; with Business or Enterprise an administrator activates it once.
Why does ChatGPT not use the connector automatically?
Usually because ChatGPT does not call the connector itself, even though it is connected. Switch AFAS AI Connect on first through the + menu (under Developer mode) in the chat you are working in; you do this again for each conversation. Then state in your question that you want to use that connector, for example: "Use AFAS AI Connect and search for sales relation X." Without that hint ChatGPT sometimes picks another source. Does it work inconsistently or keep hanging? Open a new chat, select the connector again and ask your question once more; if that does not help, disconnect the app once in your ChatGPT settings and connect again.
Can ChatGPT also change things in my administration?
Yes. Besides reading, ChatGPT can also prepare actions, such as a sales invoice or a posting. These are set ready as a draft and only processed in AFAS Profit after your approval, within the rights granted to the App Connector. You stay in control.
