Does ChatGPT work with Twinfield?
Yes. ChatGPT works with Twinfield through Twinfield AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol). This open protocol lets an AI assistant read along securely in external software. You need a paid ChatGPT subscription with Developer Mode. After that you add the connector once and work straight from the chat.
Connecting Twinfield with ChatGPT, step by step

Requires a paid ChatGPT subscription (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education). On Plus and Pro you turn on Developer Mode yourself. With Business and Enterprise an administrator can arrange or restrict this. Developer Mode is still in beta.
1Go to Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer Mode. Confirm the message.
2Go to Settings → Plugins (or open chatgpt.com/plugins directly).
3Click the plus button to create a developer mode app.
4Give the connector a name (for example Twinfield AI Connect) and paste the connector link into the server URL field. Choose OAuth as authentication.
5Click Create. You will be redirected to Twinfield. Log in and click Authorize. You only need to do this once.
6Open a new chat, choose Developer mode through the + menu, turn on Twinfield AI Connect and ask your first question.

What can you ask ChatGPT about your bookkeeping?
Once the connector is in place, you talk to your Twinfield administration in plain language. ChatGPT retrieves your figures and can, with your approval, also prepare actions. For example:
"Compare my result for this year with last year and show me the difference."
"Which general ledger accounts have the largest movements this period?"
"Give an overview of my outstanding creditors by due date."
"Prepare this purchase invoice as a draft transaction in the correct day book."

Is the connector with ChatGPT safe?

Frequently asked questions about ChatGPT and Twinfield
Do I need a paid ChatGPT subscription?
Yes. The connector runs through Developer Mode, which is available on the paid subscriptions. On a free account you cannot add a custom connector. Developer Mode is still in beta, and with Business or Enterprise an administrator turns it on once.
Why does ChatGPT not use the connector automatically?
Usually because ChatGPT does not call the connector by itself, even though it is connected. First turn on Twinfield AI Connect through the + menu (under Developer mode) in the chat you are working in. You do this again for each conversation. Then state in your question that you want to use that connector, for example: "Use Twinfield AI Connect and give me my outstanding creditors." Without that hint ChatGPT sometimes picks a different source. Is it working inconsistently or does it keep hanging? Open a new chat, select the connector again and ask your question once more. If that does not help, disconnect the app once in your ChatGPT settings and connect again.
Can ChatGPT also change things in my administration?
Yes. Besides reading, ChatGPT can also prepare actions, for example a sales transaction or a reminder. These are set up as drafts and only posted in Twinfield after your approval. You stay in control.
