AFAS AI koppeling

Do you want to connect your ERP with Mistral? The assistant from the French company Mistral AI, formerly Le Chat and now Vibe, supports custom connectors. iWeb AI Connect is added within a few minutes. After that you query your ERP environment in the chat and get answers from your live figures.

Below you can read how to connect Mistral to your ERP, which questions you can ask and what to watch out for. Are you looking for the general explanation, separate from an AI tool? You will find it in How does the iWeb AI Connect connector work?

Does Mistral work with your ERP?

Yes. Mistral works with your ERP through iWeb AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard that connects AI with your own software. Mistral calls this a Custom MCP Connector. You do not log in to your ERP itself. You enter the details of your ERP environment on the connector page of iWebDevelopment. If you prefer to work with a European AI provider, Mistral is a logical choice. You can read which subscription you need for iWeb AI Connect on the iWeb AI Connect page.

Connecting your ERP with Mistral, step by step

This is the connector link you add to Mistral:

https://mcp-afas.iwebdevelopment.com
You need administrator rights to add a connector. If you are the account owner yourself, you have these automatically. If you work with Mistral Team or Enterprise, ask your administrator.
1Go to chat.mistral.ai and open Connectors in the sidebar.
2Click + Add Connector and choose the Custom MCP Connector tab.
3At Connector name enter a name without spaces or punctuation, for example iWebAIConnect. Paste the connector link into the Server URL field.
4Click Connect. You will be redirected to the connector page of iWebDevelopment. Enter the details of your ERP environment and connect. You only need to do this once.
5Start a conversation in Work, check in the tools menu that iWebAIConnect is switched on and ask your question.
Tip: under Connectors → My Connectors open iWebAIConnect and choose the Functions tab. There you decide per function whether Mistral asks for permission first. Functions that only retrieve data can be set to Always allow. Leave functions that create or change something on manual approval.

What can you ask Mistral about your bookkeeping?

Once the connector is active, you query your ERP administration directly. Mistral finds the answer in your figures and can, after your approval, also prepare something. A few examples:

"What is the turnover per period this year, compared to last year?"
"Which debtors have the largest arrears?"
"Which sales relations have no email address filled in?"
"Prepare a draft entry in journal MEMO for these costs."

So looking up and preparing, with you in control. Mistral first asks for permission, and only then is it processed in your ERP. What is possible depends on the rights you grant to the App Connector. You will find the complete overview of what the connector can do in How does the iWeb AI Connect connector work?

Is the connector with Mistral safe?

Your bookkeeping data stays in your ERP. Through the rights on the App Connector you decide exactly which data Mistral may view and which actions are allowed. You do not share your password with the AI tool. You can withdraw the access whenever you want. Read more about safety and privacy in the general connector article.

Please note: on the personal Mistral subscriptions, conversations are used by default to train models. If you work with financial data, turn that off in the management panel of your account. On Mistral Enterprise, training is off by default. On Mistral Team, the administrator can turn off training for the entire organisation. Data that Mistral retrieves through a connector is, according to Mistral, never used to train models.

First check whether iWebAIConnect is switched on in the tools menu before you ask your question. If you still get nothing back, check whether the App Connector in your ERP has been given the right permissions.

No. You enter the details of your ERP environment once on the connector page of iWebDevelopment, not in Mistral itself. Through the permissions on the App Connector, you decide which data the AI may view and which actions are allowed.
