AFAS AI koppeling

Do you want to connect your ERP to Gemini? That is possible, although it works differently than with most AI tools. Custom connectors in the Gemini app are for now only available in the United States. In the Netherlands you set it up via the command line (for technical users) or through Gemini Enterprise.

Below you can read how to connect Gemini to your ERP, which questions you can ask and what to watch out for. Are you looking for the general explanation, separate from a specific AI tool? You will find it in How does the iWeb AI Connect connector work?

Does Gemini work with your ERP?

Yes, with one caveat. Gemini works with your ERP through iWeb AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open protocol that connects AI tools to external software. In the Gemini app you can now add custom connectors, but only in the United States, in English and with a personal Google account. In the Netherlands you add the connector via the command line or through Gemini Enterprise. You do not log in within your ERP itself. You enter the details of your environment on the connector page of iWebDevelopment, which works through the standard connectors of your ERP.

Please note: since 18 June 2026 Google has replaced the Gemini CLI for free users and for Google AI Pro and Ultra with Antigravity CLI. With a business Gemini Code Assist licence or a paid Gemini API key the Gemini CLI keeps working as usual. Both variants are described below.

Connecting your ERP to Gemini, step by step

This is the connector link you use as the server:

https://mcp-afas.iwebdevelopment.com
Custom connectors in the Gemini app are currently only available in the US. In the Netherlands this works through the command line (Antigravity CLI or Gemini CLI, for technical users) or through Gemini Enterprise.

Through the command line

1Install Antigravity CLI following Google's installation instructions. If you have a business Gemini Code Assist licence or a paid Gemini API key, you can also use the Gemini CLI.
2Add the connector to your MCP configuration under mcpServers, with the connector link as the server. In Antigravity CLI you do this in ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json:{ "mcpServers": { "afas-ai-connect": { "serverUrl": "https://mcp-afas.iwebdevelopment.com" } } }Using the Gemini CLI? Then you put the connector in ~/.gemini/settings.json, with httpUrl instead of serverUrl:{ "mcpServers": { "afas-ai-connect": { "httpUrl": "https://mcp-afas.iwebdevelopment.com" } } }
3Connect once through the connector page of iWebDevelopment: enter your ERP details and connect. In Antigravity you start this via Customizations → Authenticate in the settings and then paste the authorisation code back. In the Gemini CLI the connector page opens in your browser automatically as soon as you start the CLI; if that does not happen, type /mcp auth afas-ai-connect.
4Type /mcp to check whether the connector is active and ask your question.
Working with Gemini Enterprise? Then an administrator registers the connector as a custom MCP datastore with the connector link and OAuth. We are happy to help you with that.

What can you ask Gemini about your bookkeeping?

Once the connector is active, you query your ERP administration in natural language. Gemini retrieves your figures and can prepare actions with your approval. For example:

"What is my expected liquidity based on outstanding debtors and creditors?"
"Which debtors structurally pay too late?"
"Compare my costs per period within this financial year."
"Turn this receipt into a draft entry in your ERP."

So it retrieves and prepares, and you decide. Gemini first sets up an entry or message as a draft and only processes it in your ERP after your approval. What is possible depends on the rights you grant the App Connector. Everything the connector can do is described in How does the iWeb AI Connect connector work?

Is the connector with Gemini secure?

Your figures stay in your ERP. Through the rights on the App Connector you decide exactly which data Gemini may view and change, without any password being shared. You can read how we safeguard security and privacy in the general connector article.

Frequently asked questions

Not yet. The consumer app of Gemini only supports ready-made partner connectors and cannot add its own connector via a link. You add your own connector to your ERP via the command line, for technical users, or via Gemini Enterprise.

Yes. An administrator then registers the connector once as a custom MCP datastore with the connector link and OAuth. From that moment on, everyone in the organisation can work with the ERP administration through Gemini. iWebDevelopment is happy to help with the setup.

Not through a shared password. You enter the details of your environment on the connector page of iWebDevelopment, which works via the standard connectors of your ERP. Through the permissions on that App Connector you decide exactly which data Gemini may view and change, and your figures simply stay in your ERP.

Not without you. Besides retrieving data, Gemini can also prepare actions, such as a booking or an invoice, but it always sets these up as a draft first. The action is only carried out after your approval, and only within the permissions you have granted to the App Connector.

There is a free trial period of 30 days, so you can try out the connector yourself first. After that you choose a subscription that suits your usage. Contact iWebDevelopment for the current rates.
