Does Gemini work with Exact Online?
Yes, with one caveat. The connector works through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard that lets an AI assistant securely pull data from external software. The standard Gemini app cannot yet add its own connector through a link. Connecting to Exact Online is therefore done through the Gemini CLI (for technical users) or through Gemini Enterprise. Please note: Google is moving its CLI tooling to Antigravity CLI, so the exact commands may differ per version.

Through the command line
1Install Google's Gemini CLI on your computer. Follow Google's installation instructions; the tooling is moving to Antigravity CLI.
2Add the connector to your MCP configuration under mcpServers, with the connector link as server.{

3Start the CLI. Your browser will ask you to log in to Exact Online. Log in and click Authorize. You only need to do this once.
4Type /mcp to check whether the connector is active and ask your question.
Working with Gemini Enterprise? Then an administrator registers the connector as a custom MCP datastore with the connector link and OAuth. We are happy to help you with that.
What can you ask Gemini about your bookkeeping?
With the connector active, you query your Exact Online administration in plain language. Gemini retrieves the figures and can, with your approval, also prepare actions. For example:
"Give me an overview of my revenue per month this year."
"Which invoices have been outstanding for more than 30 days?"
"What is my net profit this quarter and which cost item stands out?"
"Prepare this supplier invoice as a draft purchase invoice in Exact Online."

Is the connector with Gemini safe?
Your data stays in Exact Online. Authorization runs through Exact Online itself, so you do not share a password with the AI tool and you can revoke access again whenever you want. More about how we handle security and privacy can be found in the general connector article.

Can I use the standard Gemini app?
Not yet. The standard Gemini app cannot add its own connector through a link. Connecting to Exact Online is done through the Gemini CLI or through Gemini Enterprise. Would you rather work in a regular chat without a command line? Then Claude or ChatGPT is more accessible.
Do I need technical knowledge?
For the Gemini CLI, yes: you edit a configuration file and work from the command line. If you are not comfortable with that, a tool with a regular chat interface, such as Claude or ChatGPT, is an easier start.
Why might the configuration look different from what is described here?
Google is moving its CLI tooling to Antigravity CLI. Because of that, the exact commands and the path to the configuration file may differ per version. The principle stays the same: you add the connector link under mcpServers. Follow Google's current instructions.
