Does Claude work with AFAS Profit?

Yes. Claude works with AFAS Profit through AFAS AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol). With that open protocol an AI assistant can safely retrieve data from external software. You install the app in Claude and then connect your AFAS Profit environment once. This does not happen with a regular AFAS login. You enter the details of your environment on the secure connection page of iWebDevelopment, which uses the official AFAS App Connector.

What is nice about Claude: the connector works on any plan, including the free account. That often makes it the easiest way to try AFAS AI Connect without any obligation.

Connecting AFAS Profit with Claude, step by step

You install the connector as an app in Claude.

1Click Install and log in with your Claude account. This works on all plans, including the free one.
2On the app page, click Install. If you work in a Team or Enterprise account without administrator rights, it will say Request and your request goes straight to the administrator of your organisation.
3In Claude, click Connect next to the connector. Your browser opens the connection page of iWebDevelopment. Enter the details of your AFAS Profit environment and connect. You only need to do this once.
4Open a new chat and ask your first question.
Tip: you switch the connector on and off per conversation via the + button at the bottom left, under Connectors.
Not working right away? Are you using the Claude desktop app? Close it completely (on Mac with Cmd+Q, the cross only closes the window) and start it again.

What can you ask Claude about your bookkeeping?

Once the connector is set up, you work with your AFAS Profit administration in plain language. Claude reads your figures and can, with your approval, also prepare things for you. A few examples:

"How much have I spent with a specific purchase relation this year?"
"What are my biggest cost items this quarter?"
"Which sales invoices are due this month?"
"Find the entries on a specific general ledger account this period."

So you request and prepare, while the control stays with you. Claude first sets up a sales invoice or entry as a draft, and you approve it before it becomes final in AFAS Profit. Is the connector with Claude secure?

Your bookkeeping stays in AFAS Profit. Through the rights you grant the App Connector, you decide exactly which data Claude may view and which actions are allowed. No password is sent to the AI tool.
