What does an AI connector for your accounting cost? All prices at a glance

The price differences between AI connectors for your bookkeeping are large, larger than you would expect. One provider's entry plan is free, another's platform subscription costs hundreds of euros a month. And what makes comparing truly difficult: the pricing models differ fundamentally. One charges a fixed amount per user, another counts every task your AI assistant carries out, a third bills per connected data source. Anyone who only looks at the monthly amount is comparing apples with oranges.

Nearly all AI connectors in this market work through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard that connects AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude to software. Prices change regularly, so always check the current pricing page before you choose.

Fixed amount, usage or per data source: how the pricing models work

The first model is a fixed amount per user or administration. Exact AI Connect works this way: €29 or €79 per user per month, with a tier for extra administrations. Finance MCP combines a base price per connector with amounts per extra administration and per extra employee. The advantage is predictability. Your invoice only changes when your team or your number of administrations grows, not when you have a busy month. Particularly when the assistant works well and you use it daily, that is pleasant: asking more questions does not make it more expensive.

The second model charges by usage. Praat met je Boekhouding counts tasks: 200 per month in the free plan, 750 in Starter, 2,500 in Pro, where one question costs about three tasks according to their own conversion. Ledger Botje uses a quota of 400 or 800 AI requests per month; you buy extra requests separately. Zapier charges 2 tasks (its own usage unit) per successful AI task on your existing plan, and when your credit runs out, the connector stops until the next billing period. That is where the risk lies: an exploratory AI conversation quickly fires off dozens of separate tasks, and then a monthly quota is emptier than you think faster than expected.

The third model charges per platform or data source. Peliqan starts at €15 per connector per user per month, the cloud variant of CData costs $99 per month with paid add-ons for extra users and sources. Interesting if you want to attach your CRM and other systems to the same AI alongside your bookkeeping, but the costs stack per source and per user.

Growth is therefore the real choice question. If a colleague joins, you feel that with model one and three. If you start using the AI intensively every day, you feel that with model two.

What do you get when it is free?

Free really does exist in this market, but never without conditions. The free plan of Praat met je Boekhouding gives 200 tasks per month (about 60 questions) for a maximum of 2 administrations, and is read only: creating or changing something is only possible from Pro onwards. Sixty questions per month comes down to about three per working day. Enough to sample, too little for daily work.

The free Zapier plan contains 100 tasks per month, roughly 50 AI tasks. CData has a free open-source variant, but that is read only and requires Java, Maven and a driver licence; tools for developers, not for entrepreneurs. Invantive offers a free platform entry, but the AI connector itself is in a beta with a maximum of 50 participants, works only with Claude and is likewise read only.

A free plan is therefore mainly an introduction. If you want to test all features, including writing and analyses, then a trial period makes more sense: most paid providers give 14 days, Exact AI Connect 30 days.

Do the maths: 1 user, 2 administrations

Suppose an SME with one user and two administrations, for example a holding and an operating company. Based on the table prices, that company pays per month:

• Exact AI Connect (Essentials): €29 for the subscription with 1 administration plus €15 for the second administration, together €44 per month, including writing with a confirmation step and the choice of all five major AI assistants. With Analytics, for analyses on large datasets, it becomes €79 plus €25, together €104 per month.
• Finance MCP: €25 for the connector plus €15 for the second administration, together €40 per month, read only.
• Ledger Botje: Basic (€39) covers only 1 administration, so you need Advanced: €59 per month excluding VAT, with writing and 800 AI requests.
• Praat met je Boekhouding: the free plan covers 2 administrations, read only and with 200 tasks per month. If you also want to be able to write, that is Pro: €49 per month excluding VAT.

Four providers, outcomes from €0 to €104 per month. The difference is not in the calculation but in what you buy: may the AI also post and create entries, is there a quota on your questions, and can you run analyses across large datasets? We think you should weigh those questions more heavily than a difference of ten euros per month. For €44 you are immediately complete with Exact AI Connect: reading and writing with a confirmation step, your own AI assistant of choice, a fixed amount without a price per question, and a service that is ISO 27001-certified and independently pentested with public results.
