Does Claude work with AFAS Profit?
Yes. Claude works with AFAS Profit via AFAS AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol). With that open protocol an AI assistant can safely retrieve data from external software. You add one connector link to Claude and then connect your AFAS Profit environment once. This does not happen with a regular login at AFAS. You fill in the details of your environment on the secure connection page of iWebDevelopment, which uses the official AFAS App Connector.
A nice thing about Claude: the connector works on any plan, including the free account. That makes it often the easiest way to try AFAS AI Connect without any obligation.
Connecting AFAS Profit with Claude, step by step

1In the left sidebar click on Customize.
2In the menu click on Connectors.
3Click the + next to Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
4Give the connector a name (for example AFAS AI Connect) and paste the connector link in the URL field. Click on Add.
5Click on Connect next to the connector. Your browser opens the connection page of iWebDevelopment. Fill in the details of your AFAS Profit environment and connect. You only need to do this once.
6Open a new chat and ask your first question.
Tip: you turn the connector on and off per conversation via the + button at the bottom left, under Connectors.
Not working right away? Are you using the Claude desktop app? Close it completely (on Mac with Cmd+Q, the cross only closes the window) and start it again.
What can you ask Claude about your bookkeeping?
Once the connector is in place, you work with your AFAS Profit administration in plain language. Claude reads your figures and can, with your approval, also prepare things. A few examples:
"How much did I spend at a certain purchase relation this year?"
"What are my biggest cost items this quarter?"
"Which sales invoices are overdue this month?"
"Find the entries on a certain general ledger account this period."
Retrieving and preparing, then, and control stays with you. Claude first prepares a sales invoice or entry as a draft, and you approve it before it goes into AFAS Profit for good. Is the connector with Claude safe?
Your bookkeeping stays in AFAS Profit. Through the rights you grant to the App Connector you decide exactly which data Claude may view and which actions are allowed. No password goes to the AI tool.
