Your first invoice overview within 5 minutes

Connecting AI to your Exact Online administration might sound technical. It is easier than you think. In this guide you go through the installation step by step. Most users are done within 5 minutes and then ask their first question straight away.

What do you need?

• An Exact Online account (any package)
• An AI tool: ChatGPT Plus/Team or Claude Pro/Team
• 5 minutes of your time

Step 1: Create an account

Go to https://www.iwebdevelopment.com/exact-online/ai-mcp-koppeling and click on Start free trial.

You automatically get 30 days of access to all features, including analyses on large datasets. No credit card needed.

Step 2: Create a connector with Exact Online

1. Click on Connect Exact Online
2. You arrive at the Exact Online login page
3. Log in with your own Exact Online credentials
4. Select which administration(s) you want to connect
5. Click on Allow

You return to Exact AI Connect. The connector is now active.

Please note: You only give access to the administrations you select. You can adjust or revoke this later. Read more about how the security works in our article about the security of accounting data.

Step 3: Configure the AI assistant

ChatGPT

1. Open ChatGPT and go to Settings > MCP Servers
2. Click on Add server
3. Enter the server URL that you see on the dashboard
4. Save

Claude

1. Open Claude and go to Settings > Integrations > MCP
2. Click on Add MCP Server
3. Enter the server URL that you see on the dashboard
4. Confirm the connector

Other AI tools

Exact AI Connect works with any tool that supports the Model Context Protocol. Consult the documentation of your AI tool for the configuration steps.

Step 4: Ask your first question

Open your AI assistant and type:

Which invoices are outstanding?

The AI then connects to your Exact Online administration, retrieves the outstanding invoices and presents an overview in readable English.

Multiple administrations

Do you have multiple administrations in Exact Online? Switch easily through your AI assistant:

Switch to administration [name]

Every extra administration automatically falls under your subscription with a volume discount. Essentials starts at 29 euros per month, with extra administrations from 15 euros. Curious how the savings compare to the costs? View our calculation example about time savings.

Solving problems

"I have to log in again"

Your login session expires after a certain period. The AI gives you a link to renew the connector. That takes 30 seconds.

"I do not see all administrations"

You select the administrations during the connector with Exact Online. Go to your dashboard and click on Manage administrations to add extra administrations.

"The AI gives an error message"

Check the following:

• Is your Exact Online subscription active?
• Do you have the right permissions in Exact Online?
• Is the server URL entered correctly in your AI tool?

How to get the most out of your trial period

Week 1: Explore

Ask a few questions every day. Start by requesting data such as outstanding invoices, customer details or revenue figures. Discover which questions are the most valuable for your work process.

Week 2: Try out write actions

Create an invoice or update customer details. The AI always shows a confirmation before it makes a change. Nothing happens without your approval.

Week 3-4: Run analyses

Try analyses on larger datasets:

• "Top 10 customers by revenue this year"
• "Compare revenue Q1 with last year"
• "Trend analysis of revenue per month"

After the trial period

After 30 days you choose a subscription (Essentials from 29 euros per month or Analytics from 79 euros per month) or you stop at no cost. Nothing is charged automatically.
