Does Gemini work with AFAS Profit?
Yes, just not through the standard Gemini app. Gemini works with AFAS Profit via AFAS AI Connect, a connector based on MCP (Model Context Protocol): the open protocol that connects AI tools with external software. The consumer app currently only supports ready-made partner connectors. You add your own connector via the command line or via Gemini Enterprise. You do not log in with AFAS itself: you enter the details of your environment on the connection page of iWebDevelopment, which uses the official AFAS App Connector.

1Install Google's Gemini CLI on your computer. Follow Google's installation instructions; the tooling is shifting to Antigravity CLI.
2Add the connector to your MCP configuration under mcpServers, with the connector link as server.{

3Start the CLI. In your browser you are sent to the connection page of iWebDevelopment. Enter your AFAS Profit details and connect.
4Type /mcp to check whether the connector is active and ask your question.
Do you work with Gemini Enterprise? Then an administrator registers the connector as a custom MCP datastore with the connector link and OAuth. We are happy to help you with that.
What can you ask Gemini about your bookkeeping?
Once the connector is active, you query your AFAS Profit administration in natural language. Gemini retrieves your figures and can, with your approval, prepare actions. For example:
"What is my expected liquidity based on outstanding receivables and payables?"
"Which debtors structurally pay too late?"
"Compare my costs per period within this financial year."
"Turn this receipt into a draft entry in AFAS Profit."
So it retrieves and prepares, and you decide: Gemini first sets up an entry or message as a draft and only processes it in AFAS Profit after your approval. Is the connector with Gemini safe?

Does this work in the regular Gemini app?
Not yet. The regular Gemini app can only use partner connectors, not its own connector through a link. Adding one yourself is possible via the command line or via Gemini Enterprise.
I use Gemini Enterprise. Does it work normally then?
Yes. In Gemini Enterprise an administrator records the connector as a custom MCP datastore with the connector link and OAuth. From then on everyone in the organisation can work with it. We are happy to think along during the setup.
Can Gemini also change things in my administration?
Yes. Besides retrieving, Gemini can also prepare actions, such as an entry or an invoice. The connector sets these up as a draft and only carries them out after your approval, within the rights of the App Connector.
